Experts: Japan'S Cancellation Of The Most Preferential Treatment Has Little Impact On China.

At present, China uses the most favored nation treatment system to export commodities to Japan. Besides the daily necessities such as gloves, handkerchiefs, blankets, kneecap and so on, fireworks, glass products and industrial products are also constantly entering the Japanese market.

However, Xu Fengxian, an expert on Economic Research of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said in an interview with the newspaper this morning that even if Japan adopted such a policy adjustment, it would have little impact on China's exports to Japan.

Japan is uneasy about the expansion of Chinese products

Reported that the establishment of the most favored nation system is to stimulate exports of some developing countries to achieve the purpose of supporting the economy, China has made the most profit under this policy, and China's economy has been developing rapidly and intimidating. Japan has appealed to the government to cancel the MFN treatment to China.

Xu Fengxian said that Japan's cancellation of MFN treatment to China would not affect bilateral relations.

He said that under the WTO framework, the developed countries give the developing countries a universal, non discriminatory and non reciprocal preferential tariff system for the export of manufactured goods and semi manufactured goods to developing countries. Beneficiary countries can enjoy tariff free or most favoured nation.

China has just surpassed Japan to become the second largest economy in the world, with GDP per capita reaching US $4000, reaching the level of moderately developed countries.

"According to the provisions of WTO, MFN treatment is a preferential tariff policy for developed countries in developed countries. It is normal for Japan to cancel MFN treatment at this time."

Xu Fengxian said.

He said that MFN treatment generally exists in two countries with trade balance or that developing countries are in a deficit position.

In the Sino Japanese trade, China is a big surplus for Japan, so Japan is uneasy about the expansion of Chinese products.

The low price advantage of Chinese products is still quite obvious.

According to the data of Japan's Ministry of finance, in 2008, China's commodities accounted for 77.9% of the commodities exported to Japan using the most favored nation system, occupying 10% of Japan's market share.

Zhejiang Haining Dongrun Knitting Co., Ltd. is an enterprise specializing in the export of shoes and socks to Japan. The chief of the company, Mr. Xu, told reporters that their profit margins were very small. If the tariff preferences were abolished, the price would be raised moderately.

According to Xu Fengxian, China's exports to Japan are mainly energy and daily necessities.

Among them, the most favored tariff system is mainly textile daily necessities.

"Small and medium enterprises, especially the textile industry, have won in the past in the export process at a low price."

He said, "because the price of China is so low relative to the world, the price advantage of Chinese products is quite obvious even if the price is raised due to tax reasons."
