Who is the most popular Chinese designer in fashion industry? Lin Nengping, who is not the 3.1 Phillip Lim, belongs to the fashion industry.
His brand was born only 5 years ago, and has won the market and reputation as fast as possible.
After winning the appreciation of Anna Winour, the editor in chief of the American edition of VOGUE in the autumn of 2007, his fashion road was plain sailing. This year, he won the CFDA award of "fashion Oscar".
Star
Customers' orders are coming.
In October of this year, Lin Nengping arrived in Beijing with 2011 spring and summer series.
Time is the greatest luxury.
On the day of the interview with FAMOUS, the sky in Beijing was as clear as green, and Lin could sit in the invincible landscape on the 66 floor of Yintai Center. "The weather is so beautiful today, it's a prize," he said.
I seem to sit in the sky.
He likes the blue sky at the moment. "Although many designers say" black is my favorite color, "my favorite is navy blue, elegant and suitable for everyone.
At the end of the show, Lin Nengping always wore black with curtain call, which is often the most important moment for a designer.
In his latest season's design, the light blue style is particularly eye-catching in the large area of the earth color, and he named it the "bro JOYA blue".
Lin Nengping did not use gorgeous words to describe his inspiration: "I can tell you that design inspiration is from travel and vacation, and many beautiful adjectives are added.
But for me, time is the greatest luxury.
I need to make good use of my time.
When I pass through the porch, inspiration may follow. Inspiration may be born when I walk, and may also arise from looking up at the sky.
For example, the blue we saw today.
It's not very clear, with a melancholy tune - it may be the source of inspiration for the next season.
Lin Nengping decided to put the 5th anniversary celebration of the brand in China and hold a fashion show here.
For the first time in the new generation of Chinese American designers rising to the west, some people came back to China to make shows.
"Regardless of the brand recognition or the growth of potential purchasing power, the Chinese market is very important to us."
He chose the beauty show in the old east corner gate of the inner city of Beijing, and T stands on the green bricks of the old city walls. "I think this is my most memorable show."
Lin Nengping told FAMOUS that this is not only because it was my first show in China, but also because my mother was there.
The most important show will be this one, which took place in October 16, 2010.
The feeling of "returning home" made Lin Er Ping slightly nervous.
"I've done so many shows in New York, and my mother hasn't been there either.
But this time it is different. This is China. She feels like she has returned to her hometown.
I think this is the perfect time for her to come to see my show.
There are some deeper things in it: she has brought me to the road of today with clothes, and today I have brought her back to my hometown with clothes.
Lin Nengping believes that this is a certain fate. He can not speak Chinese. He still has a Chinese romantic idea.
Actually, I am Lin Wen long.
"I was born in a very traditional Chinese family, and my parents are Chinese immigrants."
In 1973, Lin Nengping was born in Thailand and later immigrated to California with his family.
When the tailor's mother had the greatest influence on him, "maybe the atmosphere created by my mother influenced me, and I liked to spin around the clothes from an early age."
Lin Nengping said.
From early on, he liked to put forward various requirements for clothes: changing the length of clothes and choosing the style, this is the early sprout of design talent.
In the interview, Lin can laugh and show his tattoos on his arm.
"There is a dragon on my back, and nothing is more Chinese than that."
In fact, the "Chinese element" has only a faint shadow in the works of the second generation of immigrants. Tailoring very fine suits, high waist trousers and cocoon coats is the most outstanding part of Lin Nengping's design.
Like many Chinese children, Lin was able to choose a finance major from his family's expectations, and after three years of suffering, he finally pferred to home economics.
Before setting up his own brand, his fashion history is not outstanding. He worked part-time at Beverly boutique for the weekend, worked as an intern in a designer studio, and founded an unknown brand named Development.
At the age of 31, Lin met with a Chinese partner, Zhou Xuan Wen, at a fabric store in Paris.
"We have become friends and partners. We have established a company, she is responsible for the operation, and I am responsible for the design.
We were 31 years old. "
This particular number was written by their pride on the brand name. In the autumn of 2005, the 3.1 Phillip Lim released its first series, which has been red hot since then.
"I think I inherited something crazy from my father.
He is a professional poker player. For him, the world is full of changes and opportunities. You have to keep your eye on it to grasp the opportunities that are changing.
Lin Nengping said, he confirmed to us that the fashion devil Anna Winour really gave him strong support in the early days of the brand creation, "Anna Winour gave me a sense of timing.
It will be regrettable to arrive too early or too late. "
Lin Nengping told reporters.
Dialogue with Lin Nengping
I like to seize opportunities.
Reporter: unlike many Chinese designers, Chinese elements are desalinated in your design. Why?
Lin Nengping: I think the Chinese nature we are interpreting is the Chinese character of globalization and modern China.
This is not what your eyes can see, but what you can feel.
For example, harmony, community and so on.
Someone asked me before: "do you design Chinese clothes?" I do not design Chinese clothing, but Chinese culture is affecting the way I handle clothes.
I am always looking for balance.
Chinese poetry and art are seeking harmony. For me, harmony in clothing is the unity of classics and madness.
Today's times and environment have changed. The first generation of Chinese designers represents the popular culture of their era, and we represent the popular culture of this era.
At the same time, I hope to learn something from these cultures.
The designers of the last generation are still active.
They paved the way ahead and opened a door for us, a respected predecessor.
But for myself, my biggest concern is how to embody the modern era.
Reporter: some people think that this is the best development opportunity for Chinese fashion. What do you think of it as a Chinese designer?
Lin Nengping: I met some Chinese designers, but not many.
China's clothing culture has a long history, but in terms of fashion, its history is very short.
China's fashion market is still very young, but it is growing fast.
This can be seen from the designer, they show the design is very international.
I hope these designers can seize the opportunity and grow up as soon as possible.
I am sad that many young people no longer learn how to make clothes.
They want to be designers, but they don't want to learn sewing and making clothes.
Before you become a designer, you should learn sewing first.
When you can make clothes, you can design any trend.
Interviewer: when you studied business courses in college, what did it bring to your business brand?
Lin Nengping: these experiences make me pay attention to reality.
As a designer, I am not a practical person. I like crazy things, and I like to seize opportunities.
But as the founder of an independent Brand Company, I need to know how to do business.
Business awareness makes me more sensitive to opportunities and dreams.
When I look back at my past learning career, I find that when I am a student, I pay more attention to "Craziness".
"Craziness" is a fascinating power. Its magic is to lay a foundation for your dreams, but it is also fleeting.
Many people can grasp this moment, but it is hard to control it. We must seize it and control it and let it play a positive role.
Paying attention to reality is conducive to learning balance, and then more creativity and uniqueness.
