Buyi Nationality

It is a descendant of ancient Yue people in our country. Since ancient times, it has lived in the northern and southern Pan River and the Red River basin with mild climate and beautiful mountains and rivers.


As early as in the Neolithic age, the Buyi people entered the farming society and still engaged in agriculture. Their costumes clearly reflected the temperate climate and farming economic and cultural characteristics.


    

Buyi men and women like to wear blue, green, black, white and other coloured cloth.

Young men wear more scarves, wear breasted jacket (or long coat) and trousers.

Most elderly people wear breasted jacket or gown.

Women's clothing varies from place to place. Some wear blue black pleated long skirts, some like embroidering flowers on clothing, others like white towels in Baotou, with silver bracelets, earrings, necklaces and other ornaments.

Women in Huishui and Chang Shun wear big trousers and trousers.

On the girls' underwear in Huaxi, there is a "railing" on the waist, wearing a headband and plait on the head.

Most of the dresses are made of batik cloth with white background blue flowers. They are used to wear several skirts at a time and wear a black lace girdle.

Before marriage, the head plate is braid and the flower scarf is worn. After marriage, the "fake shell" is changed and made of green cloth and bamboo shell.

Buyi women in Luodian, Wang Mo and other places all wore big jackets and trousers.

In Tuyun, Dushan, and other parts of the county, the clothing of the Buyi women is basically the same as that of the Han nationality.

More than two hundred kinds of patterns are woven, stripes, plum blossoms, spicy flowers, Chinese prickly ash, fishbone and so on.

The colors of the costumes are mostly blue and blue with multicolored patterns. They are red, yellow, blue, white and so on. They are solemn, generous and novel.

It reflects their simple, kind-hearted, gentle and warm personality.


    

The production of Buyi costumes includes batik, tie dyeing, cross stitching, brocade, embroidery and so on, reflecting their unique aesthetic characteristics. In addition to using indigo dyed cloth as the southern nationalities, the Buyi Nationality also used the ancient tie dyeing technology to fold the woven white cloth into various patterns, tie it up with linen, dye and rinse, and finally become various designs of blue and white flowers.


    

Buyi girls have made their own since childhood.

Batik dyeing

Most of the clothes they wear are hand sewn by themselves. They fit well and are simple and elegant.

Girls put on homemade batik skirts, because ice patterns and patterns are arranged in a harmonious, complete and orderly way. They are full of change, rhythm and sense of rhythm.

A girl must begin a formal marriage by wearing a fake shell ceremony.

"Fake shell" is a kind of hat. It resembles a dustpan. It is made of bamboo shoot shell and tied with green cloth.

The Buyi unmarried girls are all pigtailed, and they still live for a while after marriage.

On the day after August and September, to April of the next year, two women from the bridegroom's family took the bride's arms and put them in a "false shell" before they could go to the husband's home.
