From the perspective of directly benefiting regions and industries, "one belt and one road" has provided new opportunities for the pportation facilities in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia and coastal areas, and has directly benefited the industries such as logistics, trade, finance, culture, tourism and infrastructure construction.

In June 11, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang chaired the executive meeting of the State Council, discussed and passed the "medium and long term plan for the development of the logistics industry", and made clear plans for 12 key projects, namely, agricultural product logistics, manufacturing logistics and supply chain management, and basically established a modern logistics service system in 2020.

According to statistics, the logistics cost of China's iron and steel industry in 2013 is about 260 billion yuan. At present, the logistics cost of China's iron and steel industry accounts for 10.5% of the manufacturing cost, compared with the international advanced level, Japan is 6.6%, and China is 5 percentage points higher.

According to the full cost of logistics supply chain, China's steel logistics costs account for 13%~15% of the total product cost, while the steel logistics cost of developed countries is only 8%~10% of the total cost of their products. If we reach the level of iron and steel logistics cost level of developed countries, we can save nearly 3 of the logistics cost. Therefore, the cost of logistics cost in China's steel enterprises has great potential.

However, the current situation of China's steel logistics development is not good.

Li Xinchuang, President of the metallurgical industry planning and Research Institute, said that the problem of arbitrary fees and fines for logistics enterprises was prominent in some places. The proportion of self owned enterprises in iron and steel logistics industry is still high. There are still scattered, small, and chaotic phenomena. The concentration of industries is relatively low, the advanced technology is difficult to promote, and the standard of material flow is difficult to be unified. In addition, there are many ways of pportation of steel and logistics, which fail to realize multimodal pport, and the problem of roundabout pportation and waste of resources is prominent.

Li Xinchuang believes that logistics runs through the whole process of purchase, production and sale of enterprises. In order to adapt to the modern market environment, it is very necessary for enterprises to develop an intelligent, efficient and green unified logistics management platform for logistics, and make systematic and scientific logistics optimization planning.

To some extent, upgrading the logistics industry is a pressing problem for iron and steel enterprises.
