Adidas Intends To Expand The Fast Plant To The US.

Giant Adidas is located in Germany's "changing the industry" fast plant (Speedfactory) equipment, ready to start large-scale production.

Products, and intends to extend this concept to the United States.

Adidas said that the initiative "foreshadowed the coming of a new era of footwear creation", which will provide "the most rapid response to consumer demand" and the provision of robotics through the use of automated modular production devices.

The combination of flexibility provides individual customers with unique custom-made products.

A key part of its vision is the decentralization of traditional manufacturing models, coupled with the global network plan for establishing fast factory modules in the world's major consumer markets, linking production, trend and product accessibility.

The pilot factory was set up in Ansbach town in December (2015), about 50 km away from the headquarters of adidas Group in Herzogenaurach.

The first 500 pairs of high performance sneakers produced by fast factories will be unveiled in this (2016) year.

This large scale commercial production facility, which covers an area of 4600 square meters, will be operated by Adidas strategic partner Oechsler Motion GmbH.

Glenn Bennett, who is responsible for global operations, added that the concept "lets us combine manufacturing speed and flexibility to rethink the traditional process", and then goes on to say, "tomorrow's products will be different from today's products".

Last year when it came to how Adidas manages the rise in the cost of purchasing products, John McNamara, head of Adidas global sourcing, described the fast factory's "completely changing the way we do our homework".

"We think fast factories are in line with innovative demands, because we are effectively looking for machines to replace labor, and fast factories have been able to solve the increasing costs and make use of new technologies that can be applied."

"We hope to find a fully automated way, even if we can only reach 50%, 60% or 70% at present, and think about what it would be like to bring these technologies into Asia's supply base."
